After working backstage at an off-off Broadway theatre in New York, Vera Paulmann studied media and political science in Tübingen and later fictional directing at the self-organized film school Filmarche e.V. in Berlin. Through internships at film festivals and film production companies she got some first experiences in producing and started working on her own projects in parallel to various jobs for cinema and television productions. 

She is an alumna of Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris, the Cutting Edge Talent Camp of the IFFMH, and the East West Talent Lab of goEast, Festival of Central and Eastern European Film. The first feature film she produced ran in competition at Max Ophüls Prize and the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2020.

She is part of the Cologne-based production company DEKORFILM and also works as a freelance producer in Berlin. She is a recent graduate of the MGZsheroes program for female founders in the media industry and was selected by the Film- und Medienstiftung NWR to participate in the Rotterdam Lab at the IFFR 2026.
